  Norman Carr Trail - Zambia Safari

  An 8 day, 7 night safari in the South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
 
Where
Starting and ending in Lusaka or Lilongwe , includes:
• 2 nights at Kapani Lodge, the Norman Carr Safaris "flagship" lodge
• 1 night at Luwi bush camp in traditional thatched bamboo huts near a game-rich lagoon
• 2 nights at Nsolo bush camp in canvas roofed chalets nestled under trees
• 2 nights at Kakuli bush camp in traditional walk-in safari tents on the confluence of the
   Luwi and Luangwa Rivers
 
Highlights
• Kapani was once the home and base of the legendary conservationist Norman Carr
• This safari focuses on a combination of game drives and walking in the wild, overnighting at
   three bushcamps
• Excellent guiding from the outfit that pioneered walking trails in the Luangwa
• All walks are conducted with an armed scout and professional safari guide
• Each bush camp is small to assure personal attention and that activities can be tailored
  around guests
• The South Luangwa Park is regarded as one of the finest wildlife sanctuaries in Africa.
  Well known for its large herds of elephant, buffalo, antelope and hippo, and stunning riverine
   floodplain scenery along the Luangwa River
• Night drives are a specialty, lion and leopard are frequently encountered
• Thornicroft's giraffe and Cookson's wildebeest are endemic
 
Best time of the year
• This safari runs June to October
• Game concentrations are at their peak during September and October - bear in mind that it's
  very hot before the rains which usually arrive in November
 
Best Access
Scheduled daily flights into Mfuwe from Lusaka and daily charters from Lilongwe (Malawi)
 
Tips and notes
• If you have the time and the budget to spare, an extension into the very remote North
  Luangwa offers the total Luangwa experience over a 10 night break
• This safari is an excellent combination with Malawi and can be readily arranged as a
  combination with the Kafue or properties on Lake Kariba or the Lower Zambezi (Zambia or
  Zimbabwe)
Victoria Falls is a simple connection from Lusaka and should be considered as an extension
  to this trip
• Advance bookings are essential for July, August and September
