Liwonde National Park is situated south of Lake Malawi and includes
Lake Malombe and the Shire River. The park is well-known for its beautiful
scenery, as well as for the great wildlife: large concentrations of
hippo and crocodiles lounge in the Shire river and hundreds of elephant
can be found in the park.
There are several species of antelope, some rhino and excellent birding.
The park offers great game watching on scenic boat trips as well as
game drives.
